Yoga

Lifestyle post today! One of my past loves for exercises, was yoga. I took classes, after finding a great deal on a coupon website and met a lovely instructor. However, not long after taking classes, I got busy at work and stopped attending, but had EVERY intention to go back. But she had moved the location of the class - to somewhere that wasn't as accessible for me.

It was one of the best yoga classes I had been to, she paid so much attention to each of us and her instructions were so clear, you didn't really need to open your eyes to check out what she/others were doing - and if you weren't in the best position, she'd come by and correct you (or challenge you), so you'd get a better stretch.

As much as I enjoy sweating through cardio, nothing beats a good stretch with doing some yoga.

So I've been hunting for somewhere convenient to go, I've been trying to avoid joining gym and going to yoga classes there, as previous experiences in those yoga classes proved that instructors weren't as active in correction, or I wasn't as sure what was going on, and was constantly keeping my eyes open to see what others are doing - meaning I miss out on the relaxation.

I've just found this YouTube video of yoga videos, and gave it a go: Beginner's Yoga Class 20 minutes. The instructions were pretty clear - at first (probably for lack of confidence), I kept my eyes open, but I gradually could go with just the instructions and  if unsure, open my eyes to make sure I was on the right track (which wasn't often at all).

They have a range of short clips for Beginners and Intermediate levels that target a range of different areas. I really did think it helped and was exactly what I'm looking for while I'm trying to find a great place in Sydney that I can go to.

I am NOT affiliated with them in anyway, nor paid for this post. But I do highly recommend them if you enjoy Yoga and am looking for something to do at home. They said at the end of the video there are hour long video on their website, so I'm really keen to check those out for some proper yoga sessions at home! :)

Their website for more videos is here.

Do let me know if you have other Yoga recommendations OR know of a great yoga studio in Sydney :)

  2. Thanks for the post. I have also been looking for a yoga class or something, and I think starting online would be beneficial for someone who has never dabbled in the world of yoga!

    1. It's great to learn the breathing techniques and get a taste of what it's like I think, but it's really good to have someone correct your posture. Definitely a good way to go whilst looking though I think! :)

  3. I LOVE yoga!! But I never have the time, so I went out and bought my own little box set and DVD the other day. Haven't tried it out yet but I plan to soon!! If it is any good I will let you know :) I do think for a beginner that a tutor of your own to correct your posture and breathing etc is better though!!!

    1. I agree Jade! I think that's why I really enjoyed going to that certain teacher/tutor previously. Let me know if the box set is good, I might pick it up too while I'm still searching for a good one, or for my inbetween days later :)
